3rd Annual Power of the Purse Luncheon and Silent Auction

3rd Annual Power of the Purse Luncheon and Silent Auction
Hosted by the United Way of Olmsted County

The monies raised from this luncheon go to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. This organization is a national effort  that partners with local non-profit organizations to distribute one free book a month to registered children in the non-profit’s service area from the time the child is born to age 5. While there is no cost to the families who participate in this program, the United Way of Olmsted County pays $27 a year for each child registered in the area. Currently, nearly 50% of the eligible children in Olmsted County receive what some of the children call “Miss Dolly’s books.”

Currently, more than 3000 children in Olmsted County are being mailed a book a month, in their names, directly to their homes. The first book a child receives is The Little Engine That Could and the last book he or she receives is Look out Kindergarten, Here I come! The books the children receive are hard bound and age appropriate.

Eco-Handbags.ca once again this year is proud to support this very worthy cause.
A unique and fashionable eco-friendly purse was donated to the 3rd Annual Power of the Purse event, held on June 10, 2008 at the Windsor Hall Kahler Grand Hotel in Rochester, Minnesota.
