Rexcana Studio

Rexcana Studio is a Canadian company with a combination of proprietary designs and imports.
Calgarian Renata Xavier takes recycling into new fashion territory.
She designs shoes and handbags using only recycled components salvaged from old truck tarps. Recycled tires become material for the outside sole.

Once the tarp is collected, it is treated with biodegradable shampoo and soap, without harmful dyes of any type, keeping the original weather-beaten characteristics of the canvas incurred by the trucks on the Brazilian highways.
The handbags are lined with natural cotton. Colour is used only for highlighting to further insure an ecologically friendly but pleasing work of art.

Rexcan's code of conduct emphasizes our social responsibility, ideal working conditions for employees and associates.
Rexcana participates in programs such as an English Language Course for Brazilians who wish to fulfill their dream of their first adventure abroad.

Rexcana Studio is situated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

personally i am glad to see other designers out there using redundant materials to make fashion items. for my bag brand, ben and bear, i use old inner tubes of tyres (surprisingly soft and see others have found the versatility of them as well!) and old vintage clothes and belts we find in the markets in Bangkok, Thailand to create highly individual eco fashion bags.
lets keep creating for a better, more sustainable future!
